Buying Vacuum Cleaners

It is not as easy to keep the indoors of a home clean as it might appear.  Even if clutter is kept under control, there is still the matter of dust mites, pet dander, and other allergens that might get into a carpet.  While you might be able to tediously pick up every crumb of dropped crackers or shred of paper scraps, these tiny bits of nastiness can only be taken care of with vacuum cleaners.

Buying vacuum cleaners has become fairly complex, with all the different types and designs available.  Compare the vacuum cleaners side by side to figure out which seems best for your purposes.  You can choose from standard upright vacuum cleaners, bagless canister or upright vacuums, self-propelled vacuums, and vacuums that have Wind Tunnel or Cyclonic action.

The filtering system is an important feature.  Some vacuum cleaners are filtered through a bagged system, while others are bagless and may have a HEPA filter to take care of allergens and dust mites.  Some also have a special added allergen filter that takes care of pollen from grasses and ragweed.

The path of vacuum cleaners determines how many trips up and down the carpet you will have to make to clean the area.  The wider the path, the fewer trips you will have to make.  At the same time, remember that if you have tight areas you may need vacuum cleaners with a narrower path to reach into them.

The power and suction of vacuum cleaners set them apart from each other.  A 12 amp motor is a good size, and some vacuums even have a power booster that ramps up the power on demand for especially tough spots.  A good long power cord is a good feature.  Some people prefer vacuum cleaners with plenty of on board tools such as crevice tools and dusting brushes.

You will probably not be happy with a new vacuum cleaner unless you invest some time in getting to know the different types that are available.  Once you have seen an assortment of vacuum cleaners, you can match up their features and capabilities with your needs.  Then you can buy the vacuum cleaners that will do the job.
